In October 2014, the comedy fundraising company, Funny 4 Funds began kicking ass and raising money and now having produced and performed in almost 300 shows are showing zero signs of slowing down anytime soon. If you live in RI, MA., or CT., you have no doubt heard of Funny 4 Funds. You’ve probably even been to one of their comedy fundraisers.
Owners, Mike Murray of Johnston and Bill Simas of Warwick started the company with the hopes of helping others and producing 1 or 2 comedy fundraising shows per month. These days, two shows in 7 days is a slow week.
Since their start, Funny 4 Funds has helped raised 1.3 million dollars for various causes, including sports teams, school functions, civic groups, individuals requiring money for medical bills, etc. It doesn’t matter what you’re trying to raise money for. Follow Mike and Bill’s instructions and you’re going to meet, (or exceed) your goal amount. It’s that simple.
Passion is what drives the owners of Funny 4 Funds. And now it’s driving them straight into the RI Comedy Hall of Fame.
The RI Comedy Hall of Fame Takes Notice
“The RI Comedy Hall of Fame’s mission statement is to recognize those who have made significant contributions to the Ocean State,” says HOF founder, Joe Hebert. “Usually these contributions take years and years to be recognized, but Funny 4 Funds is different. It’s hard to ignore what Mike and Bill have done in an extremely short amount of time. Comedy fundraising is not a new concept. These guys have just figured out a way to package it and make it work. and Funny 4 Funds is blowing up everywhere. As of July, 2016, the company has helped raise $1.3 million dollars. I’ve been in the comedy business 30 years and I’ve never seen anything like it. Everyone from the individual or group who needs the money, to the local comedy talent who perform in their shows, to the venues where the events are held, benefit from Funny 4 Funds. How can I not recognize and honor them with a spot in the Hall of Fame?”
